Many WISH to be a leader, but few understand what it takes to chart the mlm sea.
These are just a few of the many abilities a leader must have to steer their crew on
the choppy waters.
1. A crystal clear vision
2. Execute tasks
3. Be objective
4. Be loyal
Vision and action go hand in hand.
A leader has to be able to see beyond today’s obstacles, set long term goals,
and be able to still stay in the moment to accomplish today’s tasks.
Vision without action, and action without vision, will leave the ship wandering the
open waters.
A leader must have a clear vision to sail the ship into the open sea, and make
it to the destination.
Execution is the ability to follow through and carry out the decision, long after the excitement is long gone.
Usually leaders make quick decisions, stick to them, and are slow to change
them.
This is not to say leaders never change course.
Everyone has the choice to change course, to turn their ship in another direction.
Leaders change course not out of fear, but out of intuition or insight,
you know that gut feeling that something is wrong!!
Waves come in the way, and a great leader sees them coming and changes course, saving themselves and their crew.
Objectivity is being able to see things as they are.
Being able to see who their crew is, and being able to see their own shortcomings.
Knowing that their own shortcomings do not define who they are, knowing that
they need to work on themselves.
They are their own best student.
They are self changers, and don’t deal in the BLAME game.
Being loyal to themselves, their vision, the journey and their crew.
No room for guilt or fear..true leaders never use guilt or fear to control
their crew.
Loyalty is found in love, trust, and empowering others.
Be loyal, serve others, support them to their success.
I believe that success is within the reach of all that desire it.
Leadership develops daily, not in a day.
Make a habit of investing in your leadership skills daily, the process
doesn’t happen overnight.
To lead tomorrow you must learn today.

Great analogy, so agree, you need clear sight and vision of where you are heading and want to get to, otherwise the chances are you will never get there. Adjusting the course as required, taking into account the wind and tides to achieve a destination is powerful. Working with others to get there.

Love it Kim…you said “taking into account the wind and tides to achieve a destination is powerful.”
This article post is titled “Wishing To Be The Leader Of The Ship?”. NO where in there does it say “Leader of THE MLM Ship”. Make sure you know who your audience is and stay on course. The gut feeling when something is wrong is quite often FEAR.
God bless,

Curt, Sorry to have confused you
I certainly do not put mlm in all my headlines.
This article could benefit more than just mlm leaders.
Leadership is about knowing who we are and then knowing where we go, at least this is how I see it, what do you say Alice?
I love these bullet points, the recipe to success is subjective and yet there is a common thread as you describe it here using this metaphor of the ship;)best wishes!

Absolutely Patricia, If we are confused then we cannot lead.
Our belief in ourselves and our journey has to be rock solid!
Hi Alice
This is 100% on the dot.
as the say you can’t follow a car that do not move forward, and that is what a leader needs to do for his team, He must always be in-front of them and one step into the future.

Thanks for visiting 🙂
To become a leader you have first to work on yourself. The more you work on yourself the better picture you get where you want to go and you can clarify your Vision.

Yes, sometimes the vision isn’t always clear and by always working on ourselves
the vision becomes VERY clear.
Thanks Bruno
