Is Your Voice Message A Sales Pitch?

If you are in action and promoting your business
then you are calling people everyday.

You also know that most people WILL not pick
up the phone…they do not want to hear your
sales pitch!!

They opted into your capture page, or other form
of marketing because they have something they need
to fix, solve or avoid…they still do not TRUST you yet.

So when you call and get their voice mail…don’t freeze
and go into sales pitch mode.

Make sure you know exactly what you will say
when you get their voice mail…be prepared, never
just wing it.

Your voice mail is the beginning of a process, a relationship…
it is not a time to sell your product or service.

You want to build credibility, remember people are VERY
skeptical and they don’t CARE about you, or your business
yet.

The prospect only cares about their own pain at this time.

Your voice mail should be about your prospect, and letting
them know your call is to see if you can be of service to them.

Your goal here is to make them feel comfortable, so next time
they see you on caller id, they pick up the phone happy to hear
from you, or better yet, they pick up the phone and call you back.

So practice what you will say on a voice mail, use the prospects
name, tell them who you are and why you are calling, and NO sales pitch.

  1. Spot on Alice. One thing to check is that you have caller ID switched on – nothing more off putting than restricted numbers. Be friendly and make sure you leave a number they can get back to you on.

  2. Alice,
This is a great blog post and message and one I hope goes viral. To many people do not realize how they are shooting themselves in the foot by this one tactic and if they just leave a message that has value to the very person they are calling what a difference it will make to the number of return calls they receive.

    Thank you again,

    1. Hello Patty,

When people really relax and are in the mindset of helping
others, the message they leave will be felt by the one
      receiving it.

Everyone is on their own journey, our path may not be the
right path for them to take right now.

We have to find out where they are heading before we can ever
      pitch/suggest our business to them!

  3. It’s so simple…

When you put people first… they respond… unless of course they are afraid of their own shadow… but that’s a whole other story…lol

And this right here is GOLD: “Your goal here is to make them feel comfortable, so next time they see you on caller id, they pick up the phone happy to hear from you, or better yet, they pick up the phone and call you back.”

    Great post Alice!
